Specialized Educator (Jordans Principle)
Job location: Gesgapegiag Early Childhood Center, Gesgapegiag, QC.
Date of assumption of duties: September 2026 to March 2027. Possibility of extension. 37.5 Hrs a week
Remuneration: TBD, Based on qualifications and experience.
Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of The Gesgapegiag Early Childhood Center Director, the spceialized educator is responsible to intervene with children having physical, intellectual or affective disabilities by prevention and education.
The challenges of the job are:
➢ Assess children’s skills to determine their needs and to develop teaching plans
➢ Adapt lessons to meet children’s needs
➢ Develop individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each child.
➢ Plan, organize, and assign activities that are specific to each child’s ability
➢ Implement IEPs, assess children’s performance, and track their progress
➢ Update IEPs on a regular basis to reflect children’s progress and goals
Qualifications
➢ College diploma in Specialized Education or another relevant field is mandatory
➢ Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a relevant field
➢ Experience with special needs students, children or clients
➢ Good computer skills
➢ Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
➢ Mi’gmaq and French languages an asset
➢ Great ability to communicate and maintain positive relations with parents, children and staff
➢ Ability to maintain confidentiality
➢ Must have valid Medicare card
➢ Must have clean criminal record
